Issue 0 - Monopoly Wars - page 4
I still have the chair that Rich carries into the room in panel 1.
We see Will playing an early version of Wolfenstein 3D on my 386 computer.
While we all feel that Monopoly is a game of strategy above all else, the initial roll of the dice can be a big factor. That's why we will always say "concede" (jokingly) when we get the lowest roll because a bunch of properties will likely be gone by the time you get your first turn.
Our Monopoly games are played in shorthand. Panel 5 is a good example: "Five. Reading. Buying it." For those of you who are not as familiar with the game, this means: "I rolled a five. I landed on Reading Railroad. I'm buying it." While the player would be handing his money to the banker, the play would continue. We all know exactly how much the property costs and we trust one another to pay up. No point wasting time watching the boring financial transaction while we could be playing.
For those of you who are new to Bubonix and who may be offended by the language, I can assure you that this issue contains far more swearing than all other issues combined. If, however, you like the foul language, then by all means, please enjoy.
Panel 6: Craig had this habit of keeping a $500 in his pocket so he wouldn't spend it.
Panel 7: More shorthand. I rolled a 4, which means income tax, hence 10% of the money I have. Since it's my first turn, that means $150. Greg used to work at the Multiple Sclerosis Society and most of us did volunteer work there at one time or another and we would collect their t-shirts. I still have some of them today.
