I spent a fair bit of time working on a strip called Schoenfeld that was exactly that: a Seinfeld ripoff based on the life of then-hockey player Jim Schoenfeld. But no matter how much I worked on it, I figured so few people would get the joke that it wasn't worthwhile. I mean, when he was playing Schoenfeld wasn't that big a star, and now he wasn't even playing any more. By the time I stopped doing the mini-comic, he had actually reappeared as a coach.
