Issue 5 - p. 6 - Louis Riel

Long before Chester Brown began his Louis Riel comic, Louis Riel appeared in Bubonix! Who would have believed that ten years later, we would have "Canadian history action figures" actually for sale! I kid you not, I have a John A. MacDonald on my desk as I write this. It was a present from my sister Lise.

For those of you who don't know, I lived in Winnipeg (St. Boniface) for over 10 years and went to Collège Louis-Riel high school. It seemed that you couldn't turn around without being faced with some reminder of Louis Riel and his contribution to the foundation of Manitoba. That was without a doubt the inspiration for Louis Riel as a character in Bubonix. He will appear numerous times in various issues.
